A few months ago, I was commissioned by Paula, who is now a Fashion and Lifestyle Photographer and who also happened to be my friend to rebrand her identity and website. I made her previous brand identity a long time ago when she’s still based in Dubai and more focused on events and weddings.
Now that she’s based in New York, she told me that she wants a major change on her branding for the reason that she has grown up (naks!) in terms of her style in Photography (I think I should thank New York Film Academy for this :)). She’s also more focused now on the Fashion and Lifestyle genre.
On her previous branding, everything (colour palette, layout, logo) was decided based solely on Paula’s character and how she wanted it to look like – Colorful, playful, happy. This time, she made me decide on everything! Hurray! No but I guided her first on what do I think will fit on her ‘new’ style. I skyped her out on some inspirations. We pinterest-ed. We looked at some of the competitor’s website. We drew our moodboard.
During the whole process, there’s just one thing that popped out: Minimalism. Even though she’s more of the edgy and opulent type when it comes to design I encouraged her and lured her onto the dark side which I am also trying my best to practice on my daily life, inspired by the Zen Buddhism teachings (hello decluttering!).
So without further a do, here’s what I came up with:
