Last weekend, I was invited to try a sports restaurant located on Sheikh Zayed – Oleary’s Sports Restaurant. I’ll be honest I haven’t heard of the brand when I first got the invite but apparently it’s one of Sweden’s strongest and most well-known sports bar (although it actually began in Nantucket, outside Boston.). I was really excited to visit because it’s something new to me and in Dubai. I’ve also checked the zomato website for reviews before coming but since it’s fairly new it has only about 5 reviews which means I could be one of the ‘firsts’ to try and that made it more interesting to me.
8pm on a Thursday when I visited the restaurant, it’s not that packed yet but an hour later it became pretty busy. The moment I entered the place, the staffs welcomed me and escorted me immediately to my table and gave me the menu. They also offered some popcorn while I was browsing for the menu.
You can check their menu here. They have a really extensive menu from appetisers, burger, salads, pastas to steaks. They have almost everything. Oh by the way, this is a ‘dry’ restaurant so there’s no alcohol. Actually while I was reading the menu, that’s the only time that I just realised why they called it ‘sports restaurant’ and not a ‘sports bar’.
Their interior is actually nice. No, it’s seriously on point. Seriously, it’s one of the best designed sports bar I’ve seen so far. It gives you that modern Boston vibe. Plus they also have a separate place where you can do shisha.
I was actually lucky that Mr. Hadi, the marketing person for Oleary’s was there with me to answer all of my questions with regards to the restaurant. He also suggested some of the ‘must try’ dishes of Oleary’s. For appetizers, he suggested that I try the Oleary’s Home Run Combo.
To be honest, I was actually expecting alcohol when I came so I got a little bit disappointed (lol) when I saw the menu but hey their extensive menu of baby back ribs and buffalo wings actually lifted my spirits up and yes I wasn’t wrong cos their buffalo wings are so GOOD!
The Home Run Combo is a combination of 6 different appetizers. It’s good if you’re with friends and you want variety or you if you’re having trouble choosing what to get. Note that the selection varies everyday so better ask your waiter first what today’s combo is before you order. If you’re lucky sometimes they also include ribs on the combo.
I must say their appetisers were actually good. But if there’s one thing that dominated when it come to the taste, that would be of course the buffalo wings!
Now moving on to the main course, we’ve tried the Ray’s Hot Chili Burger and all their flavours of Baby Back Ribs.
The Burger is good. The patty is very juicy and not dry and yes it’s really spicy. 😀
The baby back ribs are superb! I loved it. It melts in your mouth and super flavourful. I swear I’ve finished these 3 different flavoured ribs in a jiffy. I highly recommend it.
For drinks we had raspberry iced tea and strawberry mojito.
They’re good but I like the strawberry mojito better. I’ve also tried their iced caffe mocha and it’s a tad sweet for my taste so I quite didn’t really like it.
But they have loads of non alcoholic beers and wine which I would really love to try the next time I go back here.
Oh, btw have I mentioned that they have a GAME ARCADE? and they are not just the typical arcade games but the classic ones. I just love the fact that they have an entertainment area which i’m sure the kids and kids at heart will surely enjoy. 😀
PACMAN, WRESTLEMANIA, and Mario Brothers FTW!!! Seriously, I became so nostalgic when I saw these.
To sum it up, I rated Oleary’s 3.5 out of 5. Will I go back? Yes for their buffalo wings and mouthwatering ribs! Will I recommend it to my friends? YES. It’s the perfect place to watch your favorite sports match and you can also bring your family with you. Although there’s no alcohol I still enjoyed the experience.
To all sports fan out there, i highly suggest you must watch one of your favorite matches at Oleary’s and yes you can bring your kids with you. 😀
You can visit Oleary’s Sports Restaurant at Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Safa 2, Dubai near Noor Bank Metro Station and Etihad.
